Bipolar Disorder: I'm Optimistic
It is not just a personal conviction, that every day that passes makes it stronger in my heart ... and in the hearts of thousands of people worldwide. It's not just a product of blind hope or faith extreme medical advances ... Not even I base this statement as a result of my fierce belief that with courage, effort and love everything is possible.
There are several reasons why objectively can and should be optimistic.
The first and most important is the physical and biological understanding of the disease. In the last 15 years public and private investment has led to a leap in research important with respect to the previous period. Doctors are not only better understand the mechanism under which "works" disease, but has experienced enough to tackle the most troublesome symptoms effectively.
Today, a quick diagnosis makes the disease much less footprint left by current treatments achieved with a high success rate, the patient live most of the time without symptoms.
Even in the most difficult to treat, in which the patient tolerates the medication more difficult or it provides fewer apparent benefits, the combination of new drugs (developed in recent years) has proved sufficient to mitigate symptoms to the affected can lead a normal life can be happy with all the letters.
Another reason why it is more likely to get a stable life, full and happy, in spite of Bipolar Disorder is that couples, friends and relatives of the patients have started to understand the need and benefits of getting to know the disease ... Because make no mistake: the living environment in the affected, which develops its cycles of mood swings, which laughs, cries, gets angry, loves and hates ... is responsible for many times that it can not successfully deal with the bipolar condition.
Thanks to this huge "step" forward for many families, have been achieved (with data, numbers and rigorous studies in hand), which reduce the dreaded relapse of the patient. Appropriate observation and identification of symptoms as well as the factors that trigger, it is often decisive in getting BETTER? AS RADICAL.
Only in cases where the patient does not follow proper treatment, drugs or alcohol or refuses himself consistently with the disease, the prognosis is grave ... but even then, with appropriate support from loved ones, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
It is a duty not only ethical and moral, but also emotional, commitment and love. Families and couples must go to help the patient. And they must do with all the weapons and expertise at your fingertips ... Because there really are ways to help and guide the path of a bipolar recovery.
On the other hand, advances are being awareness in society that make social integration and employment of people with bipolar disorder is increasingly possible. Today, thousands of people diagnosed with this disease develop successful careers in both the world of finance, literature, science or art ... And beyond that world, in the private sector, have improved the relationship with their partners and fail every day, live the dream of a life without fear of their own condition.
